Personnel Records (History):
Born in 2486, Hoban Washburne lived on a small planet which was so polluted that they could not see the stars, which is what later inspired him to join flight school and become one of the best, and most desired pilots out in the verse. He also discovered that Mr. Universe hacked the records at flight school to make him pass all his classes, and, to ensure silence, was offered help whenever he needed it.
Opting however to turn down a rather respectable job, he instead took up the offer to pilot the Firefly class vehicle known as Serenity, named so after the battle of Serenity. It is thought that he took this job offer simply from the company that he may be keeping, such as the First Mate, Zoe Alleyne.
A year later the two marry and appear to be in a happy, healthy relationship even though Wash is somewhat jealous of her 'relationship' with the Captain. However, Wash proves loyal to his wife when a young woman attempts to come on to him, and then later proves loyal to his captain when he is getting totured by Nishka.
Psychological Review (Personality):
Wash is unassuming, self-deprecating and lacks the fiery heroics that his wife does, however, what he lacks in those departments he makes up in his peace keeping ways, his dry, and sometimes funny jokes, and his over-protectiveness of his wife.
That said, Wash is not afraid to pick up a gun and use violence if it's the only way to ensure the rest of the crews safety, although often he will stick to the cock pit and ensure that those on the ground can make a getaway should things turn south.
He was once laconic in flight school, but somehow along the way, and sometimes doesn't know when to stop babbling, especially when he is nervous. Giving him due credit however, he is a laid back and jovial man, who simply just wants his wife at his side, and not out fighting.

Personal Quote: Wash had spent countless years in the black, countless, glorious years out there in the sky, away from all the troubles of those on the planets, but even out here in the glorious vast nothingness, trouble always seemed to find them. The alliance were always riding up there ass and there wasn't a trick Wash didn't know to get away from it, but he was, indeed growing tired of it all. There wasn’t a moment’s peace for him, no matter how desperately he wanted it, just some alone time, him and his wife, to sleep and make merry with.
On this glorious day however, they’d made tracks for a job, and Wash, as per usual, was sat in the pilot’s seat waiting on some news that the job had gone well for once in their lives. The toy dinosaurs still cluttered the controls, they were his only comfort at times like this, and as he sat with his head leant on his arms, he pondered what it would be like to just be allowed to go on one job, just one little job where violence wasn’t completely necessary. He knew that was never going to happen, not with a captain like Mal, it was almost a guarantee that aggressive negotiations would occur.
That’s when he got the call through, the voice of his stern yet panicky wife on the speaker, telling him that yet again there was someone on their trail, but with a bit of luck, it hadn’t been Reavers. Clicking on his own radio he switched it to ring in the engine room. “Kaylee, heat her up, we’ve got to pick up the kids again.” He chuckled before clicking his radio back off, his hands sliding gently onto the wheel, pulling Serenity gently up from their hold point.
It wasn’t long before he’d managed to locate the mule with its passengers, all safe and sound, now landed in the holding area. He contemplated the thought of leaving his post at the helm to go check up on his wife, but he needed to keep the ship on track until they were up out of the atmosphere of this small planet. He clicked the button on the speaker down to the cargo bag, his voice chirpy as ever. “Did we get paid?” he paused for a minute but with no response; they were probably all still checking up on each other.
“Hello?” There was still no reply, but he couldn’t complain, they would be leaving atmo in five minutes and then he would be free to do as he pleased, with who he pleased, preferably his wife… in their bed… It had been so long since they’d done a good job, worthy of at least an hour off work by the Captains orders. He chuckled to himself, staring out as he saw the tip of the ship breakthrough into the big black, and that was more than he could ask for. Trundling away from his controls, he bounced all the way down to the cargo bay, everyone stood chattering away below him, enjoying the fact that for once in their unlucky lives they’d managed to pull off a successful heist. “So did you crazy kids have fun?” He questioned his wife, slipping his arms around her and pulling her in close, a smile stretched widely across his face. Today, was going to be a good day.
